About the Shrewsbury Fire Department

Responsibilities

As administrators of public safety, fire personnel must handle:

  • Collapses
  • Fires
  • Floods
  • Hurricanes
  • Medical emergencies
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Tornadoes

These events remain, as always, unscheduled and unpredictable. These incidents are time sensitive, life threatening, and labor intensive. You never know when they will occur, but when they do, you need lots of trained people immediately.

Staff

The fire department staff, facilities and equipment consist of:

  • 1 Chief
  • 1 Deputy Chief
  • 1 EMS Coordinator
  • 1 Administrative Assistant
  • 4 Captains
  • 8 Lieutenants
  • 28 Career Firefighters
  • 10 On-Call Firefighters

  • 1 Aerial Tower (Ladder)
  • 2 Fire Engines (Pumpers)
  • 4 Rescue Pumpers (Engines with Jaws of Life)
  • 1 Hovercraft
  • 1 Rescue Boat

  • 1 Fire Prevention Vehicle (SUV)
  • 1 Maintenance / Brush Fire Unit (Pickup Truck)
  • 3 Fire Stations
