Resumption of Partial Services

As a precaution to help limit the spread of Coronavirus, the Library remains closed to the public. We are committed to meeting the State and Town of Shrewsbury guidelines while planning a phased reopening of the library. While ensuring the safety and well-being of staff and patrons, we are planning to resume partial services for the public.

Service Starting September 8th

Beginning September 8th, Shrewsbury Public Library is pleased to offer reservation based computer sessions to patrons with a C/W MARS library card in good standing. Click here for a full description.

Service Starting August 3rd

We’re excited to share the next steps we’re taking to enhance library services during this difficult period. Patrons can place holds on books, audiobooks, CDs, video games, or DVDs through the C/W MARS system. Items that belong to Shrewsbury or other libraries can be selected. Up to 10 holds can be placed on one library card.

Starting on Monday, August 3rd, patrons can pick up their holds in the library. The west entrance will be open and the holds will be on tables in the hallway. Holds will be arranged in alphabetical order by patrons’ last names, and can be checked out using the self-checkout machines. Patrons will then follow directional signs to exit the building from the main north entrance.

Please remember:
After you get an email notification that your hold is ready for pickup, please wait 72 hours before you come in to pick up your hold.
Patrons must bring the library card that placed the hold.
• Due to safety concerns for staff and patrons, this will be a no-contact transaction. Staff will not be able to assist patrons in person, but will be available to help via phone at (508) 841-8609, x2 or x3.
• Patrons are required to wear a mask and maintain a 6' distance from others while in the library.
• No browsing is allowed at this time.

Days and hours of service:
• Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 10:00 AM–12:00 PM; 2:00 PM–4:30 PM
• Tuesdays and Thursdays: 10:00 AM–12:00 PM; 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM; 5:00 PM–7:00 PM
• Saturdays: 10:00 AM–12:00 PM; 2:00 PM-4:30 PM
• Sundays: 1:00 PM–4:30 PM

Items belonging to any C/W MARS library can now be returned on the following days and times:
• Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM
• Saturdays: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Sundays: 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM

There will be a black bin outside the main entrance near the automated drop-off machine that says “Returns” where materials can be dropped off Monday –Thursday, and Saturday – Sunday.

The automated drop-off will only be open on Fridays from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

All returned items must be quarantined and will not be checked in for 72 hours.
