The library offers many types of programs for adults, from:
Interested in starting or continuing your own family history or genealogy? Visit the genealogy resources page for some of the resources available at or through the Shrewsbury Public Library.
The Library offers two book groups. The Eclectic Browsers Book Group is held the third Wednesday of the month at 10 AM. The Shrewsbury Readers Book Group is held the first Thursday of the month at 7 PM. Please check our online calendar for upcoming book group meetings. You can also call the library for more information. There is no need to register for the meetings, just show up and enjoy!
The Shrewsbury Public Library obtained a grant for English Conversation Circles from the Greater Worcester Community Foundation. We are happy to offer 5 sessions a week, for English language learners to practice speaking English in an informal environment. There are both beginner and intermediate classes available. The up-to-date schedule is posted on our online calendar. For more information, contact the Assistant Director, Priya Rathnam, at 508-841-8531.
A memory cafe is a forum for people with memory loss, Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia AND their caregivers to come together for an afternoon of socialization. The café meets on the first and third Friday of the month from 2-4 PM. Recreational activities such as musical performances, an art and craft activity or a visit with a therapy dog and its handler are scheduled during the café meetings. This is a drop-in program. For more information, contact the Assistant Director, Priya Rathnam, at 508-841-8531.
This is funded by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC).
